For me, Proxy is probably the only artist at the moment that has retained that sense of hype and mystique that was once so synonymous with my hero's of old (SebastiAn, Justice, Bloody Beetroots etc.)
As Thomas Von Party illustrated so vividly in Turbo's latest press release...
"We've decided to stop peddling music in this depressing market. Sales are down, and since all growth is in events, we figure we might as well just throw in the towel on a broken model and focus on what really works, while preserving and developing our integrity as artists and purveyors of fine techno culture."
"However, this does not mean that we're going to give our music away for free... on the contrary, we've chosen to re-introduce a long-lost commodity in the music world: scarcity."
(You can read the whole thing here)
He's right: The biggest rush for me, and i'm sure for a lot of you, was finding that new SebastiAn remix or Justice edit (It always comes back to Ed Banger Records... But they did the hype thing so well!)
So I congradulate Turbo for this brave decision. And it sounds cleche... But it's good to see that their not just in it for the money.
The majority of you have most likely heard this song in some shape or form... and yes... it's rip... but it still raises my pulse, and makes my eye-lids flutter.
