OK!

I stumbled upon this young up & comer a little while ago and was immediately taken by his bouncy, synth-filled, electro/acoustic sound!

CSK OK, or CassiAn, is a fellow Australian, who at 19 years of age, is one of many extremely talented young artists ( Destroy Disco, Ghetto Ruckus, GameBoy/ GameGirl, Miami Horror, Knightlife, ZZZ, Ohh Ee etc...etc...etc...) emerging from down-under and making waves on foreign soil.

This Sydney-sider is a regular at the amazing TrashBags, and Candy's Apartment... Which are basically two of the coolest nightspots in Aus.

CassiAn has been kind enough to send WB a few tunes for your listening pleasure.

His new tracks, Knockout and his remix of Like Woah's!, Oh! I Like, are both reminiscent of old-school arcade game music, (definitely getting a Street Fighter vibe) and are both filled with sweeping synths, grainy bass and catchy melodies that makes tapping your foot come as naturally as breathing.

His remix of ZZZ's monster tune, Lion, is a blatant face melter and is sure to kill someone.

Check him out in a mass way!

... oh and here's a sweet remix of CSK track, Crossie, by fellow Aussie young gun Hubert... defs check him out as well!!!

I was lucky enough to catch the Crooker's secret Onelove show at Prince in Melbourne last night!

wow...

Their new Thunderstruck remix is amazing, especially when you are surrounded by 20 speakers that are bigger than you.

I now have permanent ear damage, but I wouldn't have it any other way...

enjoy!

Oi!

The Boys Noize masterpiece of 2007, "Oi! Oi! Oi!", is set to be remixed & re-released later this month in a nice little package he's calling "Oi! Oi! Oi! Remixed!".

It includes some older remixes from the album (The Para One Remix, Feadz Mix and the Surkin Remix), and some great new ones!

In regards to the album's contributors, it's good to see some new material from the Proxy, who is a favourite here at Whiteballin, after a period of prolonged absence since the release of his amazing, Decoy. His remix of "Lets By Happiness" definitely brings it up a notch or 8.

We love the "& Down (Siriusmo Vs. Boys Noize Mix)" tune here at WB. We've heard it out a few times and it does not disappoint.

Though it's interesting that the smashing (literally) Teenage Bad Girl remix of "& Down" doesn't make an appearance though...Oh well.

Here's a track list and a few appetizers.............

1. & Down(Siriusmo VS. Boys Noize Remix)
2. Lava Lava (Feadz Aval Aval Mix)
3. The Battery (Dj Maxximus Remix)
4. Oh! (A-Track Remix)
5. Let’s Buy Happiness (Proxy Remix)
6. My Head (Para One Remix)
7. Shine Shine (Apparat Remix)
8. Don’t Believe The Hype (Surkin Remix No.2)
9. Frau feat. I-Robots (PUZIQUe Remix)

bonus: Boys Noize - & Down (Teenage Bad Girl Remix)

Buy the album!

How?

Anyone who went to the Big Day Out this year and got to catch Bjork will appreciate this post.

The Melbourne BDO was held in the car park of the Flemington Racecourse; basically a baron concrete dust bowl. Rage Against the Machine were headlining and funnily enough, the searing heat, the sweat, the sun burnt neck and omnipotent presence of the dust cloud that choked the crowd suited the revolutionary atmosphere of the night.

Bjork, who was on the stage directly adjacent to where Rage were due to play, took most punters by surprise (including me I admit), impressing nearly everyone by the quality and originality of her performance.

The main reason behind this, for me at least, was particular instrument she used that looked something like a cross between a table, a chess board and some kind of synthesiser.

As soon as i got home, I scoured the internet trying to find out what it was, and how it did the things it did.

This is what i found...

It's called the ReacTable and supposedly there are only 5 of these bad boys in the world!
Bjork is lucky enough to have one and boy does she know how to use it!
Her song, "Declare Independence", incited some moshing comparable to that of any Rage Against the Machine track, and it clearly displays the amazing abilities of this unbelievable instrument.

I think it sounds like a Goose remix...

And while I'm here...

Accelerate

I'm sure by now you've all heard some bad quality snippets of SebastiAn's extremely original new track, "Motor", but one more couldn't hurt could it? Tipped to be SebastiAn's contribution to the forthcoming Ed Rec III, it's good to hear some old fashioned, fucked-up, Ed Banger electro again!
He played it at the Daft Punk after party at Prince in Melbourne late last year, and my ear's are still bleeding.
