How?

Anyone who went to the Big Day Out this year and got to catch Bjork will appreciate this post.

The Melbourne BDO was held in the car park of the Flemington Racecourse; basically a baron concrete dust bowl. Rage Against the Machine were headlining and funnily enough, the searing heat, the sweat, the sun burnt neck and omnipotent presence of the dust cloud that choked the crowd suited the revolutionary atmosphere of the night.

Bjork, who was on the stage directly adjacent to where Rage were due to play, took most punters by surprise (including me I admit), impressing nearly everyone by the quality and originality of her performance.

The main reason behind this, for me at least, was particular instrument she used that looked something like a cross between a table, a chess board and some kind of synthesiser.

As soon as i got home, I scoured the internet trying to find out what it was, and how it did the things it did.

This is what i found...

It's called the ReacTable and supposedly there are only 5 of these bad boys in the world!
Bjork is lucky enough to have one and boy does she know how to use it!
Her song, "Declare Independence", incited some moshing comparable to that of any Rage Against the Machine track, and it clearly displays the amazing abilities of this unbelievable instrument.

I think it sounds like a Goose remix...

And while I'm here...

Accelerate

I'm sure by now you've all heard some bad quality snippets of SebastiAn's extremely original new track, "Motor", but one more couldn't hurt could it? Tipped to be SebastiAn's contribution to the forthcoming Ed Rec III, it's good to hear some old fashioned, fucked-up, Ed Banger electro again!
He played it at the Daft Punk after party at Prince in Melbourne late last year, and my ear's are still bleeding.

Pooforall...

Rogerseventytwo is not only a massive fresh cunt, but he also makes some amazing tunes! We've been on his case for a while and just can't get enough of his pop/disco/thrash/electro stylings. While production is predominantly left to Roger, the Djing side of things is tackled with fellow Dutchman, The Walk, who also contributes to the odd track.
Going under the title The Walk & Rogerseventytwo, they are both destined for great things.

Here's a small best of...

Rogerseventytwo - Imagination

Jackson 5 - I Want You Back (The Walk & Rogerseventytwo Remix)

The Walk & Rogerseventytwo - Demo November 2007 @ Flex Bar

Beesmunt Soundsystem - Mamma Mamma (Rogerseventytwo remix)

Dj DLG - Paramount (Rogerseventytwo Remix)

Daft Punk - Technologic (Rogerseventytwo Remix)

I stumbled across this fellow Australian a few days ago and was immediately taken by the Whiteballin nature of his tracks. Mr Pher is from South Australia and he produces some dirty jackin fidget electro. He sits rather nicely in between Crookers and Hostage and is definitely one to keep a Whiteballin eye on. Here's a few tracks off his "Tuff Jack EP" which is currently out on Runt Records. The "Private Jet" remix is hectic!

Mr Pher - Private Jet (Crooked Remix)

Mr Pher - Pelvis Control (Switch It Remix)

Mr Pher - Comf-Factor +8 (Switch It Remix)

Short but sweet...

This track was, in our opinion, under-appreciated and under-blogged. We heard it late last year during Duke Dumont's blinding set at 3rd Class in Melbourne, and immediately lost all muscular control of our eyeballs. This Modeselektor masterpiece is a true palm bender.

Sounds like: lightning

Modeselektor: Black Block

Gameboy/Gamegirl Advance

Gameboy/Gamegirl from Melbourne are Jessica, Katy & Tranter and they're doing great things at the moment. Miami Horror is at the helm of beat production and he's doing a bang up job!
They've got an EP on the way and here's a great video preview. Props!

And so it begins...

So now we have the awkward, but necessary introduction out of the way, we can get straight down to business.

I've only recently discovered the fidgety and somewhat filthy sounds of the man they call Bryan Cox, but what a discovery it is! Based in New York, Bryan's label is the newly established Crux Records, and it seems he's their prime export. His latest single, "Where You At", is a dirty synth-filled journey into the unknown and even has a huge halftime breakdown mid-track; definitely whiteball worthy. The single also comes with two killer remixes by Gaetan and 3 is a Crowd. Gaetan in particular has been very busy of late; practically releasing a remix a day. Keep an eye on him because he is soon to be huge.

Anyway enjoy!

BRYAN COX "WHERE YOU AT" (3 IS A CROWD REMIX)

Also, D.I.M. is due in Australia in a few weeks for the Future Music Festival which is in it's second year, and we cannot convey our excitement here at Whiteballin. A short while ago we got in touch with D.I.M.'s good friend and fellow prodigal producer, The Proxy, who said he might be heading down under with D.I.M.... imagine.

Here's an appetizer

k.i.m. - fistogram (d.i.m. remix)

jape - floating (d.i.m. remix)

D.I.M. - Is You

Proxy - Minimix (Fucking killer!!!!!)

Happy Whiteballin!

Congratulations!

There are approximately 100 million blogs registered globally. 50 million of them are political blogs, while the other 50 million are dedicated to all things electro.

The inclusion of Whiteballin Blog into the seemingly ever-expanding blogosphere now means there are 50 million and 1 blogs dedicated to all things electro... But we here at Whiteballin believe that blog number 50 million and 1 will be the best blog yet.

So congratulations indeed, and we hope you find Whiteballin Blog a more than reliable source for all things electro... and everything else!!

ps. thank you to K.I.M. from the presets for showing us how it's done.
